In 2016, Street Angels began with a simple mission: to meet people experiencing homelessness where they are with compassion, dignity, and hope. What started as a small grassroots outreach has grown into a trusted organization serving thousands of individuals throughout Milwaukee County with street outreach, hot meals, mobile showers, advocacy, housing connections, and life-changing support.
This year marks an incredible milestone, and we're celebrating 10 Years of Hope with our very first gala.

Join us for an engaging and informative evening designed to educate, inspire, and bring our community together around one of Milwaukee's most pressing challenges.
Over the past 10 years, Street Angels Co-Directors have spent thousands of hours on the streets building relationships with individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness. Through these firsthand experiences, they have gained a unique understanding of the barriers people face, the strengths and gaps within Milwaukee's safety net system, and the realities that often go unseen.
During this interactive Community Forum, you'll hear directly from the Co-Directors as they share:
- What they have learned from a decade of boots-on-the-ground outreach
- The realities of unsheltered homelessness in Milwaukee
- Common causes and pathways that lead individuals into homelessness
- The strengths and limitations of our current safety net system
- The challenges individuals face when trying to access housing, healthcare, mental health services, and other critical resources
- How Street Angels works alongside community partners to bridge gaps through outreach, relationship-building, advocacy, basic needs, and connections to housing and supportive services
- Ways our community can become part of the solution
Following the presentation, guests are invited to participate in an open discussion and Q&A, offering an opportunity to ask questions, share perspectives, and engage in meaningful conversation about how we can create lasting change together.
Whether you're a community member, volunteer, student, service provider, business leader, or simply someone who wants to better understand homelessness, this forum offers valuable insight into the realities our unsheltered neighbors experience every day and how compassion, collaboration, and community involvement can make a difference.

Walk a Mile in Someone Else's Shoes

What if, for just one mile, you could experience some of the difficult choices and challenges that individuals experiencing homelessness face every day?
Walk a Mile in Someone Else's Shoes is more than a walk, it's an interactive educational experience designed to increase awareness, inspire compassion, and help participants better understand the realities of unsheltered homelessness.
Along the one-mile route, participants will encounter interactive learning stations that explore many of the obstacles people experiencing homelessness navigate, including:
- Finding safe places to sleep
- Accessing food, showers, and basic necessities
- Transportation and getting to appointments
- Mental and physical health challenges
- Barriers to employment and housing
- The importance of identification, documentation, and other critical resources
- The emotional toll of living without stability or support
Each station is designed to encourage reflection while highlighting the resilience of those experiencing homelessness and the importance of a community that responds with compassion rather than judgment.
The event concludes with opportunities to learn how Street Angels is working every day to bridge gaps in services through outreach, advocacy, relationship-building, and connections to housing and community resources.
Whether you're walking as an individual, with your family, a school group, faith community, or workplace team, you'll leave with a deeper understanding of homelessness and how each of us can help create hope and lasting change.

Street Angels is 100% community supported, and every dollar matters in providing hope, advocacy, support, and dignity to individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness.
During just the first seven months of 2026, together we have:
- Served 1,130 unique individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness
- Provided more than 10,600 hot meals
- Distributed over 13,800 bag lunches
- Provided 527 mobile showers
- Helped 63 individuals and families end their unsheltered homelessness through connections to emergency shelter or permanent housing
These numbers represent more than services—they represent lives changed through compassion, dignity, advocacy, and hope.
