$325 towards $2,500

2020 has affected all of us in very unique and various ways, none of which any one of us could have predicted. Thankfully for me, it did not lead to the worst of the worst circumstances, but for many in my community, it has led to loss of jobs, food insecurities, and for others, homelessness.

Where I live, I see and interact with the homeless community almost the moment I walk outside of my door. Anyone who lives in the downtown east side of Milwaukee can point out their 'local' homeless members, but more and more frequently the amount of individuals searching for help have been increasing steadily.

As the weather starts to change from Fall to Winter and the increase in COVID-19 cases continue to rise, there will be a much larger need for shelter, food, and understanding. Working around the current capacity limits being placed on homeless shelters, those have shut down their in-person services, or simply are not taking any new people, the resources are slim and overworked. This will force those who cannot reach access to resources to have to make it outdoors.

I want to thank the The Street Angels Milwaukee Outreach who are putting in the work and resources they have available to those who need it the most. If you are unable to make a monetary donation, I am collecting and will conduct porch pickups for any clothing items that they have listed as needed:

  • Adult Coats
  • Men's Boots
  • Blankets
  • Sweatshirts/Hoodies
  • Adult Pants
  • New Underwear
  • New Socks

Thank you for your help in this goal and feel free to message me with any questions!

Street Angels is a local (501c3) non-profit that helps meet the basic needs of individuals experiencing homeless in Milwaukee County. Street Angels operates 156 nights per year, 3 nights per week providing hot meals, bag lunches, clothing, blankets, shelter and most important, HOPE to hundreds of individuals experiencing homelessness. But that isn’t all. When Street Angels’ hands someone a hot meal, they’re opening a door for them. They are there to learn their stories and help them take steps to end their homelessness. Never heavy-handed. Never bureaucratic. Their work is friend to friend.

Currently, Street Angels is seeing about 130 friends each night and the number keeps growing. Covid-19 has wreaked havoc on people’s livelihoods, unemployment is sky high, and evictions are resuming after the moratorium. Also critical are the terrible effects of mental health problems and addiction. New people are becoming homeless every day. They are frightened, penniless, and don’t know where to turn. Street Angels is there for them.

By helping me, you are helping hundreds of individuals who would otherwise be lost and without HOPE.
