I donated in support of this campaign.
Hey everyone! It’s me. So some of you may know and some of you may not. This fundraiser is very important too me. I myself have been homeless. Some of you knew me then but would have never known. First off I would say I can’t imagine how hard it was for my mother to know that we had nowhere to go and that without the kindness of friends and family we would have been under a bridge or living in our car. I have been very lucky and fortunate in life and I give back anytime I have a chance. I found my tribe when I met up with the Street Angels and they gave me the opportunity to volunteer my time and go out into the streets to care for the most vulnerable people. I go out every Sunday because I should give back. These people do amazing things everyday and the care and compassion that they give is beyond compare. If you have anything to spare please know that this means the world to me. I have been there, and I have walked a mile in their shoes and I know how hard this is. No one deserves to be on the street. Be kind always. I love you all!!!
This year I am taking the “48 Hours of Homelessness-Street Sleep” challenge in conjunction with Street Angels Milwaukee Outreach. For 48 hours, I will leave my home with nothing except for the items on my back. I am going to need your support! My personal fundraiser goal is $xxxx. In doing this, you will also be supporting Street Angels’ overall goal of raising $48,000 in 48 hours. During my time away from my home, I will be looking to you, my friends and family, to help me with basic survival needs.
During my 48-hour fundraiser, I can earn certain “luxuries:”
To help a community of people that I believe in and a group of people with huge giving hearts who go out 3 times a week to help provide for those in need
Street Angels is a local (501c3) non-profit that helps meet the basic needs of individuals experiencing homeless in Milwaukee County. Street Angels operates 156 nights per year, 3 nights per week providing hot meals, bag lunches, clothing, blankets, shelter and most important, HOPE to hundreds of individuals experiencing homelessness. But that isn’t all. When Street Angels’ hands someone a hot meal, they’re opening a door for them. They are there to learn their stories and help them take steps to end their homelessness. Never heavy-handed. Never bureaucratic. Their work is friend to friend.
Currently, Street Angels is seeing about 130 friends each night and the number keeps growing. Covid-19 has wreaked havoc on people’s livelihoods, unemployment is sky high, and evictions are resuming after the moratorium. Also critical are the terrible effects of mental health problems and addiction. New people are becoming homeless every day. They are frightened, penniless, and don’t know where to turn. Street Angels is there for them.
By helping me, you are helping hundreds of individuals who would otherwise be lost and without HOPE.
